ADVANCED GENE MAPPING COURSE
November 7-11, 2005

Each session will start with a theoretical introduction followed by practical exercises.  Instructors for the course are Goncalo Abecasis, David Clayton, Heather Cordell, Christoph Lange, Suzanne Leal and Bertram Mueller-Myhsok.  Please feel free to bring your own data sets for discussion and/or analysis.

The course is everyday from 9:00AM- 5:00PM .

Linkage analysis of qualitative and quantitative traits,
Linkage analysis in the presence of intermarker linkage disequilibrium,
error detection and haplotype estimation.

samples of unrelated and related individuals.
Controling for admixture effects by genome-wide analyses

Estimating sample size and Power analysis
Estimating empirical p-values (simulation and permutation tests).
Exercises: DSA, COCAPHASE, PAWE, Genetic Power Calculator, SIMPED, DESPAIR, PS, etc.

Non-parametric linkage analysis of pedigree data and sib-pair data for qualitative and quantitative traits.
