The Journal's Aim

Historically, the journal Human Heredity was focused on clinical research. With the exponential increase in research on genetics and genomics in the past 20 years, as well as the mapping and sequencing of the Human Genome, this journal, under the direction of Professor Jürg Ott and his excellent staff of associate editors, editorial assistants, and reviewers, has shifted emphasis from clinical research to methodological and empirical research relating to genetics and genomics. As a result, we have decided to present an updated mission statement.

Our mission at Human Heredity is to create a journal that strives for excellence in genetics and genomics research; responds to all prospective authors in a timely, thoughtful, and courteous fashion; is a complementary rather than competing voice to other journals in our area of research; and, that provides a vision for the future of scientific research through the publication of timely invited editorials, special issues, and the encouragement of scientific articles that consider new directions.

We at Human Heredity invite all prospective authors working on genetics and genomics research, specifically statistical genetics, complex gene mapping studies, population genetics, microarray data analysis, and pharmacogenomics, to consider Human Heredity as a journal where they can submit original articles, short communications, and software announcements.
